Washington University Department of Pathology and Immunology

Power of Path Rotation Award
Opens Nov 30 2022 12:00 AM (CST)
Deadline Jul 31 2025 11:59 PM (CDT)
Description

Pathology is a fascinating medical field with many opportunities and career paths within the various branches of diagnostic medicine. Unfortunately, medical students are often not familiar with this dynamic and evolving specialty, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result, broadening representation has been a challenge in pathology, limiting the field from benefiting from the perspectives that a wide range of experiences can bring.

With that in mind, the Department of Pathology and Immunology at WashU Medicine invites medical students to join our department for a rotation and explore this specialty. To support this initiative, funding will be provided, including stipends to facilitate participation.

During the rotation, students will gain experience in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, interact with residents and faculty, and receive dedicated mentorship. Our goal is to provide exposure to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and foster interest in pathology.

All full-time medical students in good academic standing are welcome to apply through our online application system. Fourth-year medical students must apply by completing our online application and the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) application. Acceptance is contingent on space availability during the preferred time period. Students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
